Elisabet Fura is a counsel with a background in corporate, transport and bankruptcy law as well as litigation as the judge of the European Court of Human Rights. Elisabet works closely with both of Ellex in Estonia core teams – the corporate M&A team and the litigation team. Elisabet also contributes to the development of Ellex professional relationships within the Nordic countries.

In regards to her previous role as the Chief Parliamentary ombudsman of Sweden, Elisabet was a member of the board of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) and she has been a member of the world board as well as the European board.

Elisabet has an outstanding knowledge of the Swedish legal system. She has previously litigated in the Swedish Courts and was a partner of a leading Swedish law firm, Vinge. Elisabet has served as a Deputy Chair and Chair of the Swedish Bar Association. Related to her role in the Swedish Bar Association, she was appointed head of the Swedish delegation to the CCBE (Council of the Bars and Law Societies of the European Union). From 2003 until 2012, Elisabet served as a judge at the European Court of Human Rights. In addition, she has also been an expert on several parliamentary committees in Sweden.

Elisabet has been a lecturer at the Faculty of Law at Uppsala University and Stockholm University, The Stockholm School of Economics, Centre Régional de Formation Professionnel des Barreaux de la courd‘Appel de Paris (CFPP) and the Swedish Institute for Legal Development (SILD). Elisabet Fura is a Juris Doctor honoris causa at Stockholm University.
