Raivis Leimanis is a senior counsel working in the Banking and Financial practice group of Ellex in Latvia with significant experience in the banking and financial sector, litigation and in the field of non-governmental organisations. Raivis also has unique experience in specific areas of law: sports law, housing law, state aid issues, patent litigation, construction-related loss recovery cases and government securities issues. Raivis has represented the interests of the Latvian state in landmark litigation cases (including the Ministry of Transport in connection with the restructuring of airBaltic liabilities and the provision of state support, and the Ministry of Finance in a complex dispute with former shareholders of Parex bank). In his attorney’s practice, Raivis has advised and represented international and local clients in a variety of matters, including corporate and commercial law, mergers and acquisitions, corporate insolvency and restructuring cases, construction and real estate projects, as well as administrative, civil, commercial and tax litigation.

Prior to joining the law firm, he worked in the legal department of a leading Scandinavian commercial bank handling corporate finance projects, including complex cross-border financing transactions and syndicated loans, as well as developing new financing products.
