Valters Diure is an associate partner who specialises in banking and finance, insolvency, and financial services regulatory issues. He has assisted in the introduction of various banking products into the Latvian market, consulted credit institutions on regulatory requirements, and drafted research papers on financial instruments market issues. Amongst other recent works, Valters handled the sales of Danske Bank’s customer portfolios, advising Blackstone on the acquisition of the billion-euro stake in Luminor and was the liquidator of former GE Money Bank from 2014 until liquidation in December 2016. Valters regularly advises international financial institutions about cross border structured finance transactions and assists many owners and investors in the acquisition, financing and lease transactions of aircraft for the national carrier.

Before joining Ellex in Latvia, he had experience within the finance and banking sector in Latvia, which has contributed to his legal expertise via a practical understanding of industry specifics.
