We advised the Estonian Ministry of the Environment in the court dispute over the legality of the issued extraction permit

Ellex Raidla partner Martin Triipan and associate Rauno Klemm represented the Ministry of the Environment in a long-standing court dispute regarding the legality of an extraction permit issued for the mining of oil shale.
On 15 December 2014 the administrative college of the Supreme Court agreed in its judgment with the lower courts declaring that the impact of the oil shale mining has been duly assessed in the environmental impact assessment statement approved in 2005. Therefore, the Supreme Court considered the extraction permit issued by the Ministry of the Environment as legitimate.
