Ellex represents Telia Company in selling its data carrier operation
Ellex in the Baltics represents Telia Company AB (Telia) in selling Telia Carrier, its global data carrier operation, to Polhem Infra, joint venture of Swedish pension funds.
Ellex lawyers in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania consult the seller on all issues pertaining to the transaction and preparation for it. In this project, the law firm Ellex acts as a local legal adviser in cooperation with MANNHEIMER SWARTLING Sweden.
The value of the sold business is EUR 915 million (SEK 9.450 billion). At the same time, Telia will make a long-term strategic partnership agreement under which it will continue as a user of the sold infrastructure. The transaction is planned to be completed in the first half of 2021 after obtaining all required approvals.
Telia Carrier is an exceptional player in this specific market. The company is the owner of the global data carrier infrastructure comprised of more than 300 connection points in more than 120 countries and 67,000 km of optic cable in Europe, Asia and North America. Telia Carrier occupies about 65% of the global data carrier market.
