Elektrilevi to acquire Imatra Elekter

Estonia’s largest distribution network company Elektrilevi acquires Imatra Elekter, which offers energy services to 25,000 customers in Estonia.

Elektrilevi is taking a step forward in merging the company in order to offer online service with an even better price-quality in Estonia. “The transaction came from an initiative of the Finnish energy group Imatran Seudun Sähkö, who wanted to leave Estonian business and leave it in professional hands. As this coincided with our wish to expand the distribution network business, we reached an agreement,” commented Mihkel Härm, Chairman of the Management Board of Elektrilevi.
The transaction remains subject to clearance by the Estonian Competition Authority.
Elektrilevi is the largest network company in Estonia, managing approximately 60,000 kilometres of power lines and 24,000 substations, and serving more than 508,000 customers.
Imatra Elekter offers energy services to 25 000 customers in Estonia, and is the third largest distribution network company in Estonia with nearly 3,100 kilometres of power lines and 1,300 substations.
Elektrilevi OÜ was advised on the transaction by Ellex team in Estonia which was led by Partner Martin Käerdi and included Partner Martin Mäesalu and Counsel Triin Frosch.
