Successful representation of one of the largest wholesale distributors of goods in criminal proceedings
On 13 September 2024, a decision of the Latgale District Court in case concerning criminally acquired property came into force in favour of the firm’s client, a wholesale distributor of goods in the European Union.
The Latgale District Court fully agreed with the arguments put forward by the owner of property infringed regarding the evidence in the case, the lack of any link to a criminal offence, the methods of determining the value of the goods, the transfer pricing methods to be applied and terminated proceedings regarding criminally acquired property. The decision of the District Court has not been appealed and has entered into force.
The firm’s client was successfully represented in court by assistant attorney-at-law Kristers Toms Losāns. Assistant attorney-at-law Eduards Dzintars assisted with transfer pricing and tax related questions which were dealt with in the case.
