Refinitiv: Ellex leads M&A market in Eastern Europe by deal count
Refinitiv has announced its rankings for the entire year of 2021. According to the results, Ellex leads M&A market in Eastern Europe by deal count in small-cap and mid-market segments: 78 deals (mid-market) and 75 deals (small-cap) credited for Ellex. Ellex is also the highest-ranked Baltic law firm in the Nordics tables of both segments.
The credited deal value for Ellex in the Eastern European region is US$ 498.4 million (mid-market) and US$ 179.1 million (small-cap).
Announced league tables of Refinitiv include all announced deals between January 1 and December 31 of 2021. League tables include rank eligible mergers, acquisitions, repurchases, spin-offs, self-tenders, minority stake purchases and debt restructurings.
The overall results show that M&A deal making in both segments has been the strongest full year on record. There has been an increase of 46% (mid-market) and 27% (small-cap) by deal value compared to year-ago levels and the strongest opening full year period since records began in 1980. Regarding the number of deals, mid-market deal making increased by 25% and small-cap deal making increased by 22% compared to 2020, hitting an all-time high.
Technology-related M&A transactions take the lead in both market segments comparing to other industries and business sectors.
