SIA “Depozīta Iepakojuma Operators” succeeds in an administrative litigation

Ellex in Latvia successfully represented our client SIA “Depozīta Iepakojuma Operators” (DIO) in administrative litigation initiated by SIA “Nulles Depozīts” over selection process of the deposit system operator and award of contract to DIO.

The District Administrative Court has ruled that the selection process has been run properly and DIO’s proposal for implementation of packaging deposit system in Latvia was the best. At the centre of this landmark case was the interpretation of the legislative acts regulating selection process of deposit system operator and nature of the contract awarded.

The packaging deposit system in Latvia will start operating on February 1, 2022.
