Viljandi Real Estate OÜ developed the first full concept IKEA store in Estonia
IKEA opened the first full-size store in Estonia in Kurna village, Rae municipality, near Tallinn. Ellex team in Estonia advised Viljandi Real Estate, the franchisee of the furniture retail company, in all aspects of the IKEA concept store development project.
The total area of the store opened on 25th of August covers 30,000 sq m and includes restaurants and a food store.
The IKEA Tallinn store will have unique solutions compared to other IKEA stores in Baltic countries, such as a special glass house selling green plants, outdoor solutions and seasonal collections, as well as self-checkouts for the convenience of customers.
Ellex team in Estonia made an important contribution in all aspects of the project from acquisition of the property to opening the store. The team included Partners Martin Käerdi and Martin Triipan, Senior Associate Kaisa Laidvee and Associate Karin Tartu.
IKEA first entered the Estonian market in August 2019 when an e-store opened, along with a bricks-and-mortar collection point, on Peteburi tee in Tallinn, while the company purchased the plot of land near Rae which is home to the new store, in the same year.
